TEAM HENDY’S CHARITY PEDAL POWER
A team of four cyclists from the Hendy Group in Hampshire will don their lycra and raise funds for the British Heart Foundation when they take part in the annual London to Brighton Bike Ride on Sunday June 15th.
The beefy foursome will join 27,000 other riders along the 54 mile route, which starts from Clapham Common in London and traditionally passes through Chipstead in Surrey and Turners Hill in Sussex before making the long arduous climb over Ditchling Beacon and finishing on the seafront in Brighton.
Team Hendy consists of Simon Palmer, Team Captain, Richard Reed, Paul Gilbert and Ian Mullen.
They hope to raise as much as possible for the charity, said Ian Mullen who is confident of reaching the required fitness levels before setting off on the marathon ride.
"We are not exactly in the Lance Armstrong category and will not be aiming to break any records," he said.
"But this is one of those rare events where everyone wins because after cycling from London to Brighton, we will all be incredibly fit so less likely to develop a heart condition while the British Heart Foundation will have a few more coins in its coffers,” he said.
