Cricket legend and legendary charity fundraiser Sir Ian Botham is proving a popular walking companion with hundreds of well wishers signed up to join him on his forthcoming Forget Me Not Walk.
Among those joining Botham on the Hampshire section of the fundraiser is Hendy Group managing director Paul Hendy who says he feels honoured to be joining the walk.
Botham is walking to mark 25 years since his first fundraising walk for Leukaemia Research, and 50 years since the charity was formed.
After helping raise £12 million for Leukaemia Research, Sir Ian Botham will lead ten walks this year around the country including Winchester, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and London.
Paul will be joining the Hampshire leg of the walk and said he was delighted to support such a worthy cause.
“Beefy has been an amazing fundraiser for Leukaemia Research over the years and I’m delighted to be able to lend my support to this anniversary walk,’’ said Mr Hendy. “He has also been a great supporter of Hendy Group golf events and we walk together on April 14 on a route from Mottisfont Abbey near Romsey and into Winchester.’’
Money raised for Leukaemia Research will be used to fund research projects in blood cancers and disorders including leukaemia, Hodgkin’s and other lymphomas, and myeloma.
