Hendy Group honours long serving employees
Members of the Hendy 25 Club gathered at the Leigh Road facility for their annual celebration evening – and to welcome five more members to the club.
Hendy’s 25 Club is open to all staff who have completed at least a quarter century with the company and membership currently stands at 49 employees.
They have more than 1,550 years service between them with Ronald Dunham the longest serving employee having joined the group 47 years ago.
“It is tremendous to have some many members of staff who have been with the group for so long and worked with us as we have expanded across the south,’’ said Hendy Group deputy managing director Stephen Hendy who made the presentations.
The latest employees to join the elite band are Graham Wallis, Graham Smith, Leslie Thompson, Steve Lane and Paul Gilbert.
Graham Wallis and Steve Lane both work at the Hendy Group’s new parts warehouse in Hedge End. Graham Smith is based at Hendy Ford in Winchester while Leslie Thompson works at Hendy Truck in Chandler’s Ford and Paul Gilbert is the group truck service manager.
“We now have more than 900 employees from Chichester to Portsmouth, Southampton and as far west as St Austell and we are delighted to have so many people who have been with us for more than 25 years.’’
Mr Hendy said the members enjoyed the evening which began with a Champagne reception before pitting their skills on the casino tables.
Next year a further four members are due to join the Hendy 25 Club.
