The new Kia Rio: design-led with industry-leading fuel economy
The new Kia Rio is emblematic of Kia’s rise from also-ran to competitive front-line manufacturer. The new 4th generation Rio goes on sale in the UK on the 1st of September, and marks a major step forward in Kia’s relentless drive to upgrade the style and quality of its entire model range while reducing fuel consumption and CO2 figures.
The new Rio can be ordered with a wide range of specifications – from a well-equipped ‘1’ entry level model up to level ‘3’, equipped with 17-inch wheels, rain sensing wipers, cruise control, and many other extras.
The standout feature of the new Rio, however, is its extraordinary efficiency. If the right ticks are made on the options list, Kia’s new 1.1-litre turbodiesel will offer up to 88.3mpg when combined with Kia’s other fuel-saving technologies, like low rolling resistance tyres, and Intelligent Stop & Go engine management.
None of this fuel-saving technology has impacted the Rio’s safety. Every Rio, no matter the options it is ordered with, enjoy the same safety features; stiff body shell with advanced crumple zones, electronic stability control, electronic brake force distribution, emergency brake assist, emergency stop signalling, twin front, side and curtain airbags, and seat belt pre-tensioners with load limiters for the front occupants.
The new Rio marks a serious advance. And it still has Kia’s unique 7-year warrenty.
