Hendy powers to rally success in France
South coast rally driver Steve Hendy is celebrating a successful overseas trip with second place in the Rallye du Bethunois.Together with co-driver Aled Davies the pair tackled the rally in Bethune, north east France - Steve’s first outing in the Hendy Group Focus RS in more than 12 months.
“I was certainly a little rusty to start but a good recce meant that we quickly settled into a good rhythm on the stages,’’ said Steve. “The asphalt stages were tricky to drive but really enjoyable with conditions dry for most of the two days.’’
However the event was not trouble-free for the pair who lost time on the final loop on day one with a slipping clutch. “Thankfully this was replaced at the final service of the day and for the second day we were on a mission and set a few quickest times,’’ said Steve.
The pair were supported on the event by Bethune’s Ford dealer and Steve said the presence of Autovale Bleu Bethune had been tremendous both on the stages and in the service area.
“It was great to be working with another Ford dealer in our efforts,’’ said Steve from the country’s oldest Ford dealership Hendy Ford. “It was my first rally in France and we are already planning a return event.’’
