Driving Women in Power

Hendy FordStore Eastleigh recently hosted an empowering event for women, led by two of the district's most highly regarded, influential women.

Eastleigh MP Mims Davies, alongside the founder of Taylor Made Computer Solutions, Aly Taylor, spoke to more than 40 leading female decision makers in business and politics in Hampshire, at the event named 'Driving Women in Power'.

The professional pair urged local businesswomen to make their influence felt, with Mims Davies stressing how 'Evenings like this are very important - the challenge is how we address that inequality.' Mims, who sits on the Women and Equalities Committee, emphasised how 'Our country needs the very best talent, and women have to make sure they make their voices heard.'

Aly Taylor explained how statistics suggest that the IT industry isn't utilising valuable talent in women, making up just 17% of the UK's technology specialists - and less than 10% of these women in leadership roles.

Further involving women in this industry could boost diversity and encourage the development of technology firms. 'Encouraging women to consider roles in the IT sector is something we're incredibly passionate about at Taylor Made. If you have what it takes, please get in touch.'

Mark Busby, Hendy's Commercial Director, said that 'research shows that women are really excited about the prospect of going into a showroom to buy a car - but sadly are often disappointed by the level of engagement they find.'

'At Hendy, we are committed to looking after our customers whatever their gender, so we have introduced geniuses to help people choose the right car for them. Interestingly, the majority of our geniuses are women, which probably speaks volumes...', Busby added.
