Here at Hendy, we were thrilled to see Kia scoop not one, not two, but five 2019 What Car? awards! The Kia e-Niro led the trophy charge, being crowned 'Best Electric Car' and the overall 'Car of the Year 2019', with the Picanto, Ceed and Stinger also taking to the podium.
The buzz around the Kia e-Niro continues to resonate throughout the automotive industry, with the innovative model winning the highly coveted What Car? 'Car of the Year 2019' award. The e-Niro impressed the What Car? judges in all of the award criteria. They said: "Put simply, the e-Niro beats its rivals via knockout rather than on points, because it's the first sensibly priced electric car that can fit into most people's lives...In short, the Kia e-Niro is a stunning achievement."
The e-Niro proves that electric vehicles need not compromise on visual appeal, boasting a sculpted and dynamic exterior. The model was also named 'Best Electric Car' at the awards, with judges lauding its impressive 253-mile real-world range, luxury touches and comfort.
But it wasn't just the e-Niro that contributed to Kia's impressive awards haul. The Kia Picanto also took to the podium - being crowned 'Best City Car' for the second year running, with judges praising the model's unique blend of space, performance, comfort and equipment. The Kia Ceed was named 'Best Family Car under £20K', applauded for its all-round performance, dynamic looks and passenger comfort, all underpinned by the peace of mind of Kia's famous seven-year/100,000-mile warranty.
Lastly, the Kia Stinger was crowned 'Best Performance Car under £50K', with judges enthusing: "What really sets the Stinger apart, though, is the fact that once you're done having fun, you can soften off its suspension and enjoy what is one of the most cosseting long-distance cruisers currently on sale. It's a trick that a lot of other performance cars haven't mastered anywhere near as well."
