The Fiesta’s new mild hybrid (mHEV) powertrain comprises Ford’s award-winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, assisted by an electric motor, plus a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. The separate 48V Li-ion battery is automatically charged with regenerative braking, i.e. capturing energy that would usually be lost – meaning there’s no plugging in required for this innovative mild-hybrid model!
