But, as well as providing you with the independence that having a car brings, we want to ensure that you are getting the most out of the scheme – which is why we wanted to tell you about the recently announced £250 New Vehicle Payment scheme.
We understand that times are tough, with energy costs, fuel prices and other everyday living costs on the rise. We hope that this one-time payment will go some way to helping you make the most of your next car – whether you’re a new or existing Motability Scheme customer.

Who is eligible?
New and existing customers will be eligible for this one-time payment when you place a new or renewal application.
Customers newly joining the Scheme during 2022 will receive the New Vehicle Payment when they take delivery of their new car. This applies to new customers who order or take delivery of their first vehicle in 2022.
What’s more, anyone who is already a customer as of 31st December 2021 is eligible for the payment when they take delivery of their next vehicle, whenever that may be.
You’ll receive this payment shortly after you take delivery of your new car. The payment is only available once per customer.
I placed my order in 2021 but I’m still waiting to take delivery of my car. Will I receive this payment?
It’s no secret that the past year has impacted the supply of crucial vehicle parts, leading to slower production and longer wait times. But don’t worry – if you placed an order last year and are still waiting for your car to be delivered, you’re still eligible for the New Vehicle Payment.
I’m looking to join the Scheme, but I’m not quite ready to place an order. When I am ready, what will happen if my vehicle doesn’t arrive until 2023?
There’s no rush to place an order – we recommend taking your time and looking at all options that are available. As long as you place your first order before the end of 2022, you’ll still be eligible for this payment, even if you don’t take delivery until 2023.

I took delivery of my new vehicle just before the end of 2021, can I get this payment now?
If you had already taken delivery of your vehicle or product before the end of 2021, you would not receive this payment until you come to collect your next car at the end of your current lease. However, don’t feel rushed – you still have plenty of time to enjoy your current vehicle. Even if you don’t collect your next vehicle or product for a number of years, you will still qualify for this payment, providing you were a customer on the Scheme as of 31st December 2021.
Will this affect my Good Condition Bonus?
No, this payment is separate and will not affect your eligibility for the Good Condition Bonus, or the amount you receive.
