Hybrid or electric?

Lead the charge with a Kia electric or hybrid vehicle. Not sure which is right for you? Read below or contact your local Hendy team to find out more.

> 100% electric (also known as pure electric vehicles or EVs)

Electric vehicles drive on battery power alone – storing energy in a large battery that ‘fuels’ a powerful electric motor, which can be charged at home or on the move. EVs travel free in Clean Air Zones and London’s Congestion Zone. They’re also rather fun to drive – electric motors produce maximum torque at any rpm, making them incredibly responsive.

> Hybrid (also known as self-charging hybrids or HEVs)

Along with a traditional petrol or diesel engine, hybrid cars also have an electric motor powered by a small battery. The battery is charged by recovering energy that would otherwise be wasted and feeds this energy to the electric motor to help with acceleration or even driving the car at low speeds. No plugging-in required!

> Plug-in hybrid (also known as PHEVs)

Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) work in a similar way to a self-charging hybrid – a petrol engine that works with an electric motor and a battery – but the battery is much larger than in a self-charging hybrid. With a PHEV, you can enjoy miles of all-electric driving while still having a petrol engine for those rare long-distance adventures.
