At Hendy CV, we were thrilled to read that Ford has announced not one, but two special editions of its flagship Ranger pick-up truck. The Ranger Stormtrak and Ranger Wolftrak will arrive in showrooms from October 2021, joining an ever-growing Ranger line-up.
With this rugged model accounting for a 40% UK market share in the first quarter of 2021, these two new variants will no doubt be of interest to business customers across the country - not least because they will be released in limited numbers, adding extra exclusivity to these special editions.
So, with one model focused on spec, and the other geared towards off-road excursions, let's dive into what sets these exciting new models apart!
Ford Ranger Stormtrak
If you have a penchant for vehicles that comes with generous specification, the new Ranger Stormtrak might just be the pick-up for you! Based on the practical Ranger Wildtrak series, the Stormtrak doesn't lose any of the Ranger's famous practicality, but brings distinctive styling and premium features to the party.
This high-spec model features the same range-topping 213PS EcoBlue engine seen in the Wildtrak. It comes exclusively with the Ranger's 10-speed automatic gearbox, developing 500Nm of torque. Selectable four-wheel drive is standard, and the pick-up will be capable of carrying a 1.0-tonne payload with a maximum towing capacity of 3,500kg. In addition, a bedliner, load divider and Ford's new Power Roller Shutter come as standard - helping you shift cargo with ease.
The Stormtrak offers head-turning style and a premium leather interior. Exclusive styling cues include unique Rapid Red paint (Frozen White and Blue Lightning are also available), a red grille insert, and 'Sports Hoop' roll bar in the load bed. Step inside to discover the Stormtrak-specific seats, which feature the same supple leather as Ford's iconic Ranger Raptor, accentuated with embroidered Stormtrak logos. Tinted Graphite interior surfaces and red stitching throughout reflect the Stormtrak's dramatic exterior style.
Ford Ranger Wolftrak
If you and your 'wolf pack' enjoy the off-road lifestyle, check out the new special-edition Ranger Wolftrak trim! Ford says the two new Ranger editions are the same tough and rugged workhorse and this is epitomised in the Wolftrak variant, which the marque describes as 'an intrepid, rugged pick-up designed around the needs of customers who work outdoors and desire commanding off-road performance without compromising comfort and desirability.'
Essentially, if you're coveting a pick-up that makes rough terrain a breeze, this go-anywhere activity vehicle is well worth a look! Based on mid-spec Ranger XLT trim, the Wolftrak boasts a 170PS 2.0 litre EcoBlue diesel engine, available with a six-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic gearbox.
A selectable four-wheel-drive system with shift-on-the-fly function, an electronically locking rear differential and all-terrain tyres are standard to help you tackle challenging off-road conditions, supported by a low range four-wheel-drive setting to improve performance on steep hills and soft surfaces.
Styling changes to the original Ranger include the option of Conquer Grey or Sea Grey paint, a matte black grille and black alloy wheels, plus grey Wolftrak badges. This striking vehicle's haunches are highlighted by imposing Conquer Grey paint, which also complements the matte black grille. Inside, there's functional kit like a bed liner, moulded side steps and tubular sports bar behind the cab.
