Hendy Group renews BTCC partnership with Irish ace Árón Taylor-Smith | January 2022

Árón Taylor-Smith is delighted to announce the renewal of his partnership with Hendy Group for the 2022 British Touring Car Championship. Hendy Group is one of the most renowned car dealerships in the United Kingdom and currently represents over twenty different manufactures, one of which is the iconic CUPRA brand with a dealership located in Brighton. The 2021 British Touring Car Championship saw Hendy Group joining the UK's most followed motorsport championship with Taylor-Smith and the 2022 season is shaping up to be one for the record books with a maximum capacity grid of 32 cars fighting for the most coveted prize in British Motorsport.

Árón Taylor-Smith will once again return to the series after signing a multiple year BTCC program with the Kent based outfit of Team HARD after debuting the CUPRA during the 2021 season. Taylor-Smith, a multiple race winner in the BTCC, returned to the championship after a three year sabbatical and is set to fly the CUPRA flag once again while representing Hendy Group.

Taylor-Smith commented: "My heart has always been in the BTCC as it is a championship like no other. The racing is fierce with the best drivers all taking to the stage to battle it out for the most coveted prize in British Motorsport. The CUPRA name is infamous in motorsport circles and the car did not disappoint in its debut season. We have a host of winter developments in play and I feel very confident going in to the 2022 season."

The ultra competitive BTCC welcomed the addition of the new CUPRA for the 2021 season and the Irish ace regularly battled his way to the cuff of the top ten throughout the season, making for some very exciting racing along the way and showcasing the hard work that team had done in building this new car. Hendy Group branding will once again be prominently displayed on Taylor-Smith's CUPRA as he takes to the pinnacle of British Motorsport. The 2022 season is already well underway with the CUPRA receiving a host of upgrades ahead of the season launch in April at Hendy Group's local track of Thruxton. One significant difference for the 2022 season will be the introduction of the Hybrid regulations which sees a synergy between the road going CUPRA Leon and the BTCC car like never before. The CUPRA is due to begin its preseason testing in the coming few weeks in which Hendy Group will be granted unrivalled behind the scenes access to.
