The Ford Puma continues its rise in popularity with the small SUV the top selling car in April.
The success of the Puma comes at a time of rising new car registrations which have grown for the last nine months in succession.
SMMT chief executive Mike Hawes said the new car market is currently bullish with easing supply chain issues providing a much-needed boost.
Hendy Group’s Ford brand manager Ben Hefetz said the SUV provides exactly what many motorists are looking for in a new car and the Puma has received a number of awards since launch.
In 2020 it was named What Car? Car of the Year and at the time judges praised the car’s mild-hybrid fuel efficiency, best-in-class luggage space and advanced driver assistance technologies in the stylish crossover.
The car offers buyers an SUV-inspired compact crossover which has been designed to fuse the stunning exterior design with a sophisticated mild-hybrid powertrain.
The Ford Puma introduced a new chapter in Ford’s design identity with charismatic styling cues including distinctive wing-top mounted headlamps and athletic, aerodynamic lines.
Also popular has been the compact crossover proportions which deliver a raised ride-height for a confidence-enhancing driving experience, and support class-leading uncompromised luggage capacity of 456 litres.
