Nissan electric: A new way to drive on the South Coast

There’s a revolution happening on our roads – and it’s electric!

More and more drivers across the South Coast are discovering that electric cars aren’t just the future, they’re a better way to drive right now. Smoother, quieter and refreshingly simple to own, electric vehicles (EVs) are changing what everyday driving feels like. At Hendy, we’re proud to be part of that journey with Nissan’s growing electric range.

If you’ve been curious about electric cars but are unsure where to start, here’s everything you need to know.

100% electric. 100% forward-thinking.

Nissan have been at the forefront of electric motoring for years, and long before EVs became mainstream. By replacing the traditional engine with a powerful battery and electric motor, their electric cars deliver impressive range, strong performance and an effortless driving experience.

Smooth, quiet and surprisingly fun to drive

One of the first things drivers notice when they go electric is how smooth it feels.

Electric motors deliver instant torque – meaning immediate, responsive acceleration with no gear changes, no vibration and barely any noise. Press the accelerator and you’re off! Ease back and the car naturally slows, often using one-pedal driving to stay in control. It’s relaxed, intuitive and ideal for everything from coastal commutes to longer motorway runs.

Lower running costs, less maintenance

Electric cars make sense financially too. You’ll never need to visit a petrol station again, and charging at home is usually far cheaper than filling up with fuel. EVs also have far fewer moving parts than petrol or diesel cars, which means reduced maintenance costs over time.

Even braking components tend to last longer, thanks to regenerative braking – where the car gently slows using the motor, while feeding energy back into the battery.

Zero tailpipe emissions while driving

When you drive electric, there are no tailpipe emissions produced while you’re on the move. That means cleaner air locally and the reassurance that you’re doing your bit as part of the electric revolution – without compromising on comfort or convenience.

Charging made easy – at home or on the road

Charging is super straightforward – you simply plug the car in, much like a phone or laptop.

Charging at home

For many drivers, home charging covers most daily needs.

·        Using a home plug: If you have a short commute or don’t drive every day, plugging into a dedicated household socket overnight can be enough to keep you topped up.

·        Installing a home AC charger: For faster, more convenient charging, a dedicated home charger is the best option. Depending on your home’s power supply and the vehicle, these can significantly reduce charging times.

Government support may also be available through the EV charge point grant, helping with the cost of installation (subject to eligibility).

Charging out and about

Heading further afield? Public charging is easier than ever.

With access to tens of thousands of public charge points across the UK, the Nissan Charge app helps you locate chargers, manage payments and travel with confidence – whether you’re popping into town or heading off on a longer adventure.

Getting the most from your electric range

Electric cars are designed to fit seamlessly into everyday life. A few simple habits can help maximise range:

·        Look after your battery: Try not to let the charge drop below 5% where possible.

·        Plan longer journeys: Modern EVs easily handle daily driving. On longer trips, charging stops often line up perfectly with coffee breaks or meals.

·        Drive efficiently: Just like any car, smoother acceleration, steady speeds and correct tyre pressure all help your range go further.
