Hampshire actor and charity fundraiser Sarah Parish has been in Winchester to raise awareness of a brand-new public art event coming to the city this year.

Hares of Hampshire will see streets, parks and public spaces in Winchester and in Southampton brought to life with an exhibition of 30 magnificent 6ft high hares painted by local artists.

Sarah visited some of the city’s most popular landmarks with one of the Hares in a Hendy MOKE to begin the countdown to the art trail which takes place from June 16th to August 25th.

"The Murray Parish Trust is delighted to be partnering with Hendy for Hares of Hampshire.

Hendy has embraced this project whole heartedly so how could I refuse the offer of driving our Hero Hare around Winchester in a MOKE,” said Sarah. “What a beautiful day it was, and so lovely to see our Hare in the little red MOKE bringing so much joy to Winchester.

We caused quite a stir.”

Hendy is sponsoring one of the hares in the trail and commercial director Mark Busby said the company was thrilled to be involved in such a spectacular event which will also be raising vital funds for the Murray Parish Trust which supports paediatric emergency medicine across the South of England.

“It was great to be able to offer Sarah the MOKE to showcase what Hares of Hampshire is all about and the vision of the 6ft hare in the back of this fun vehicle certainly caught the attention of people in Winchester,” he said.

The art trail has been designed to be a free family-friendly event with each hare or leveret sculpture sponsored by a local business. At the end of the trail they will be auctioned to raise funds for the Murray Parish Trust.
